Digitalization of industry Open Target group: Enterprises operating in the Estonian industrial sector. The industry is an important part of Estonian economy, as it is the largest employer and makes up the majority of the local economy. Estonian economy is undergoing stable growth, yet in terms of effectiveness and added value, we have fallen behind when compared to out neighbouring countries and the European average.
In order to improve competitiveness, the labour-intensive and traditional industry should catch up with the digitalized world. Getting started with digitalization may be complicated, several relevant events and services are provided in Estonia to facilitate and simplify it.
But such a role change suggests a corresponding danger: the risks posed by any weakness in the foundation rise in direct proportion to the weightiness of the functions the foundation is tasked with supporting. Security concerns are not merely a tangential subset of the software space.
To the contrary, it appears that security concerns are both the primary driver behind decisions to transition to the cloud, as well as one of the top challenges organizations face once they have made the shift. As businesses delegate core functions to cloud — based providers, the complex challenge of securing an enterprise — scale system and its data is among the first logistical burdens management teams are looking to offload.
Even on the individual business level, the increased stakes are apparent. While websites were still considered an optional luxury for intrepid early adopters, such a cyberattack would have amounted to little more than an inconvenience for most impacted businesses. Today, such attacks are relatively commonplace and can be potentially catastrophic. As enterprise software transitions to the cloud, the old notion of perimeter or end — point security the strengths of which are catered to on — premises setups is being replaced by a new prioritization of point identity.
Rather than primarily erecting digital barriers e. There no longer remains a question of whether the transition to the cloud will occur, nor even when it will occur as it is currently ongoing , but what final form the changes will assume.
That the trend toward cloud solutions appears to be a foregone conclusion suggests impressive headroom for growth for companies that can offer compelling security solutions, particularly as consumers and organizations increasingly transition sensitive data and essential operational functionality to the cloud.
The innovations brought about by digitalization have by now proliferated well beyond the traditional trails blazed by innovators in Silicon Valley, spilling into and often changing long — established ways of life. When compared with previous industrial revolutions, the Fourth is evolving at an exponential rather than a linear pace. Moreover, it is disrupting almost every industry in every country.
Much like the revolutions that preceded it, this fourth industrial revolution carries with it a sense of inevitability and of wondrous mystery. If the actual impact until now has been so large as to be difficult to quantify, the potential future impact is harder still to estimate.
Things that were impossible will now become i nevitable. Even a single significant breakthrough on artificial intelligence or quantum computing, among other cutting — edge research trends, could be as broadly transformative as the internet or the web browser, if not more so. But while it is impossible, almost by definition, to fully anticipate the wholesale changes such innovations will likely bring about, the general forward trajectory seems indisputable, as does the breadth of the shift.
Digitalization is decreasingly about fun gizmos that can provide a head start and is increasingly about keeping pace to avoid being left behind.

Countless high profile games such as those in the Halo and Grand Theft Auto series have also either required day-one patches or were quite buggy upon release. Similarly, games will be released with less content than originally planned or advertised so that the publisher may sell future expansion packs. The game, first officially announced at the E3 conference in , boasted a procedurally generated universe Pre-release marketing, including a high-profile demonstration on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert , showed off many features that indicated the game would be revolutionary.
Excited, gamers flocked to pre-order the title which is yet another way that publishers take advantage of gamers to ensure they could begin playing immediately upon release as well as get the bonus content that comes with pre-orders.
Things began to unravel for Hello Games just over a month before release, when the Reddit page dedicated to the game found leaked information that the release would be pushed back from late June to early August [8]. Players especially those who preordered were upset, but willing to wait to ensure the game was as good as it could be.
The Reddit page was suspended due to the vitriolic messages being posted and websites such as onemanslie. The below figure shows the rapid decrease in peak concurrent players on Steam, which shows how quickly players were turned off from the product that was initially released [11].
The United Kingdom Advertising Standards Authority is investigating the promotion of the game, although many in the industry are not confident it will bring about any changes or action against Hello Games [12]. Additionally, The Game Awards announced that it will focus more on actual in-game footage to promote upcoming games to avoid misleading marketing [13]. Though misleading gamers seems to be a minor consequence of the effects of internet access in gaming, it sheds light on the fact that consumers in other industries can be similarly taken advantage of.
