I volunteer at my kids' classes from time to time. I often see kids there play games during recesses. It's fun watching them play. I like to do hand clapping games with my kids and I find that they absolutely love it. Besides the entertainment and playfulness they allow, I do believe that they can actually be used to teach rhyming as you have said.
